The Krk prosciutto, protected by the designation of origin, can be found in numerous restaurants. It is gentle and light, its taste reminds of butter. Accompanied by equally light žlahtina, there is no better introduction into the meal. Of course, do not forget to taste the Krk cheeses – cow, sheep or goat. They have a rich taste and smell like the medicinal herbs, aboundant in the island of Krk.
Besides all the meals, do not forget the add the olive oil from Krk, which is one of the best oils in the Mediterranean. Real liquid gold and a medicine!
When it comes to sweets, you should definitely try the original cakes made of dry figs, cottage cheese, and also fried pastry: fritule and kroštule. This is the pastry that people on the island used to eat. You should certainly try the modern version – the irresistible cake Krčka Kneginja (Krk Princess), which will take your breath away at first bite.
